EDPR completes first solar + storage system for Mohave Electric Cooperative

Interlink Capital Strategies (“Interlink”) is pleased to announce that its affiliate, Prometheus Power Partners (“Prometheus”), has collaborated with EDP Renewables North America Distributed Generation (EDPR NA DG) to successfully launch a groundbreaking project – a 23.27-MWDC ground-mount solar system coupled with a 15-MW / 60-MWh front-of-the-meter (FTM) energy storage system for Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC).

Tim Bridgewater, Chairman at Interlink represented the company in this project through its affiliated commercial solar development partner, Prometheus.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and on-site tour were held on Wednesday, October 25th, attended by key figures in the energy industry, local government, and tribal representatives.

MEC’s investment in renewables promises to bring numerous economic and environmental benefits to its members and surrounding communities. The solar + storage project, with a capacity of 23 MW, is expected to create new sources of revenue through economic growth, job opportunities, and workforce development while enhancing reliability in the region.

The Mohave project’s ground-mount solar array, co-developed by Interlink’s affiliate and EDPR will offset an impressive 21,438 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Gustavo Monteiro, CEO of EDPR NA DG, emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “This solar + storage project is a prime example of how MEC — and cooperatives in general — have the power to provide equitable access to clean energy for its members and communities, all while providing the framework for a more resilient grid.”

To optimize the project’s energy storage system, Athena, Stem’s AI-driven clean energy optimization software, will be implemented.

This project exemplifies the ongoing dedication of EDP Renewables, Prometheus and Interlink to provide cost effective solutions to the renewable energy market and to continue advancing sustainable energy solutions.
